Making a positive impact on the world and those who need us
At LandscapeCare we are committed to the people who need us – the customers who commission us to work on their property; the amazing team at LandscapeCare who provide all our services; the people relying on a cleaner world for a better future.
We understand what a difference it all makes which is why we have policies and objectives in place to ensure we achieve our goals – whether that’s environmental, business, people or wider society.
Our accreditations and objectives
-
We are ISO14001 accredited but also have the following plans and objectives to further increase our environmental accreditation.
SERVICE - We provide a service to our clients that cares for their outdoor space. We enhance our clients’ outdoor spaces into thriving biodiverse ecosystems, even in an urban environment. We are proud to be able to provide this service and do all we can to support our clients’ objectives.
HEAD OFFICE - Our objective is to reduce energy usage at our Head Office by at least 10% during the year of 2024 and are well on the way to putting plans and processes together to achieve this.
SOLAR ENERGY - We are currently looking into feasibility of incorporating solar panels onto our buildings and land and scoping out the possible ROI on this.
WASTE - We send zero waste to landfill. All waste we produce is checked through to recycle every last piece and we are actively reducing the amount of waste we produce by relooking at our processes.
CARBON - We currently run three electric/hybrid vehicles on our fleet for use by office staff. We are also exploring the possibilities of using electric vans for our maintenance technicians. Although the range isn’t there to support all our technicians, we are looking at alternative ways and processes to make it possible for them to use electric vehicles for their travel.
EMISSIONS - Where possible our teams use public transport to get around. Whether this be the sales or project team. We are looking to further reduce CO2 with electric tools and vehicles.
EFFICIENCY - Our committal to energy efficiency has been portrayed in the recent purchase and implementation of an end to end field management software. A main feature of this system is to continually track and review vehicle efficiency and suggest more efficient maintenance routes to reduce our vehicle emissions.
-
We work to the standard of ISO50001. Listed below are our activities that fall under this ISO accreditation.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT TEAM - We have set up an energy management team to measure, research, analyse and reduce the amount of energy we use.
CARBON FOOTPRINT - We publish our carbon footprint measure annually, have just actioned and reviewed our impact for 2023 and will be setting objectives from this to greatly reduce our impact in 2024.
OBJECTIVE - As mentioned previously, the energy management team are committed to reduce our energy usage by at least 10% in 2024.
-
We are ISO45001 accredited and below are a couple of progressions and objectives for 2024.
OBJECTIVE - We hit our target for 2023 of zero Lost Time Accidents. We have set the same target of zero Lost Time Accidents in 2024 and we are currently on track for this.
EXPERT ADVICE - We have recently invested in a Compliance and H&S manager to ensure the above goal is exceeded and other H&S targets can be achieved.
-
We are ISO9001 accredited and below are progressions and objectives for 2024.
SUPPLIERS - We fully believe in sustainable procurement and ensure that our suppliers come in line with our values.
PURCHASING - An objective for 2024 is to put the purchasing team through a sustainable procurement training course to further increase our awareness on this subject and learn even better ways to buy.

Where possible to save travelling the maintenance technicians will travel from home directly to site to reduce travel. Also we use local suppliers to further reduce CO2 with deliveries of product.

We also work in accordance with ISO26001. Below is an overview of our commitment to Social Responsibility and the headlines of our activity in our community.
GENDER - As a company we are currently running at a 35% female to 65% male split of staff. Our target is to bring this up to a 50/50 split and have plans for 2024 to employ more diverse staff whilst maintaining an inclusive and supportive family culture.
DIVERSITY - One of our 2024 objectives within this subject is to put all Plant Care staff through a diversity and discrimination training course.
SOCIAL MOBILITY - We believe strongly in internal promotions and social mobility. Currently, four of our line managers started with us on a basic job role and have been since been promoted due to Plant Care’s provision for progression and positive aptitude. We create a culture for staff to excel and support positive career paths.
SAFETY – Plant Care provides a broad range of training for all members of staff, starting from the first induction day with the basics of H&S, company policies, manual handling etc. We run quarterly refresher sessions with staff on key areas like manual handling and working from height. More specialist training is provided where necessary for other members of staff such as first aid, forklift, IPAF, PA1 and PA6 licenses.
EDUCATION – Our maintenance technicians operate to our standard procedures; these are continuously updated as regulation evolves.
TRAINING - Any new members of staff follow a six week onboarding process to ensure they are fully trained in all aspects of plant maintenance.
DEVELOPMENT - We carry out field training days where managers will spend one-to-one time with the technicians to again promote an increase and increase knowledge sharing throughout the team.
REWARD - We are very conscious of the rise in cost of living and last year alone we issued three wage increases to all employees to ensure we were well ahead of the national living wage. This was coupled with an entirely voluntary one-off payment to all our staff toward the end of last year to comfortably see them through the winter.
WELLBEING - While monetary support for our staff is important, we also realise that their mental health comes above everything. This is why we have bred a culture that promotes staff to speak to management level about any issue they may have, inside or outside of work.
COMMUNITY INVESTMENT - As well as caring for our staff, LandscapeCare is also committed to giving and supporting outside the organisation to local communities and charities. We donate around 15-20% of all profits to a range of charities, a few of which are listed below.
• Great Ormond Street Hospital
• Diabetes UK
• NSPCC
• Great Western Air Ambulance
• Rapid Relief Team
